Memphis basketball will put its six-game winning streak on the line today when it hosts Temple at FedExForum.
The 15th-ranked Tigers (19-4, 9-1 AAC) have not lost since falling to the Owls (14-9, 6-4) in Philadelphia on Jan. 16. Penny Hardaway’s team is in sole possession of first place in the league, one game ahead of UAB.
Since losing to Temple, Memphis’ average margin of victory is 11.2 points, and PJ Haggerty leads the team with 20 points per game. Big man Dain Dainja is averaging 14 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in his past six games.
Meanwhile, the Owls are moving in the opposite direction. They’ve gone 3-3 since their big win, a stretch that includes three consecutive overtime games (two of which were double-overtime contests).
Temple’s leading scorer, Jamal Mashburn Jr., sat out the team’s most recent game with a “lower body” injury. It is unclear whether he will play Sunday.
