Miami linebacker Adarius Hayes has been released from hospital after a collision that killed two children on Saturday afternoon in his hometown of Largo, Florida.
Largo police said Hayes’s Dodge Durango collided with a Kia Soul that was making a left turn, killing the 78-year-old driver of the Kia along with two of her passengers, Jabari Elijah Solomon, 10, and four-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria.
“There were no signs of impairment with either driver of the vehicles,” Largo police said in a statement on Sunday. No criminal charges or tickets have been issued over the crash, although the investigation is ongoing.
“We are deeply saddened to learn the crash resulted in three fatalities, as confirmed by Largo Police, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those lost,” Miami said in a statement. The school has launched its own investigation into the collision.
The 20-year-old Hayes was one of the nation’s top-rated linebackers coming out of high school and chose Miami after receiving offers from schools such as Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State. He played in 12 games in his freshman season in 2024, mostly on special teams, and recorded an interception against Florida A&M.
Other Miami players offered prayers for Hayes on social media on Saturday night.
