Mississippi State baseball began another SEC series with a loss on April 25.
After inclement weather pushed back first pitch by three hours, the Bulldogs (24-18, 6-13 SEC) fell 6-5 at No. 11 Auburn (29-13, 10-9).
MSU took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning off a two-run home run by designated hitter Noah Sullivan, but Auburn responded for a 5-2 lead in the sixth inning. MSU catcher Joe Powell tied the game in the seventh inning with a three-run homer. Then in the bottom of the inning, Auburn regained the lead at 6-5 with a double off ace pitcher Pico Kohn’s 121st pitch of the game.
Mississippi State will try to force a rubber match with a win April 26 (6 p.m., SEC Network+).
