STARKVILLE — Pico Kohn had Mississippi State baseball leading by one run after five innings. The Bulldogs collapsed after his pitching outing ended.
MSU (23-15, 5-11 SEC) conceded seven runs in the sixth inning to Florida (26-14, 5-11) in a 13-3 loss in eight innings at Dudy Noble Field on April 18.
Stone Simmons, who hadn’t allowed an earned run in 14 straight innings, replaced Kohn and was torched for six runs without recording an out. Chase Hungate relieved Simmons, but then gave up a three-run home run before exiting with an injury in the seventh inning.
It came after Kohn tied a career high with 11 strikeouts.
Gehrig Frei and Reed Stallman both hit solo home runs for the Bulldogs.
