COLUMBIA, Mo. (KCTV) – Missouri quarterback Drew Pyne has reentered the NCAA transfer portal while being in the middle of a quarterback competition for the Tigers.
Pyne, who has one season of eligibility remaining, transferred to Mizzou after previously playing at Notre Dame and Arizona State. The 2025 season will be his sixth in college football.
Last year, Pyne played in six games for the Tigers, completing 49 of his 82 pass attempts for 391 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
He played significant snaps in Mizzou’s 34-0 loss to Alabama in late October, throwing his 3 interceptions — and threw all 3 of his touchdowns in a 30-23 victory over Oklahoma on Nov. 9.
His entry into the transfer portal was first reported by On3′s Pete Nakos.
Without Pyne on the roster, Mizzou’s quarterback competition is between Penn State transfer Beau Pribula and Sam Horn. Pribula left Penn State in the middle of the College Football Playoff last season to transfer to Mizzou.
The 5-foot-11 Pyne was Notre Dame’s starting quarterback for the majority of the 2022 season, when he had a 22-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio in 11 games.
