MLB The Show 25 is here! While baseball season is still a couple of weeks away, fans can get into the action with the series’s latest installment. The game has many new features, with upgrades to fielding and free agency being some of the biggest. A huge change comes in the very popular Road to the Show mode. Instead of going right into the MLB Draft, players can pick a college team to play for, adding another layer of realism to the game.

In previous years, players were dropped into a baseball showcase, where they had three games to show what they could do. There were no colleges and no other paths the player could take. In MLB The Show 25, the Road to the Show begins in high school. Players compete for the state championship and are recruited by actual college baseball programs while also getting noticed by major league teams. Once drafted, players can decide whether to take a college offer or go pro right away. Eight college baseball programs are in the game.
- LSU Tigers
- Tennessee Volunteers
- Cal State Fullerton
- Texas Longhorns
- South Carolina Gamecocks
- TCU Horned Frogs
- Vanderbilt Commodores
- UCLA Bruins
Are The Programs Different?
It does matter what program you pick. Each school is rated in exposure and skill development while also having unique perks and packages that come with committing to the school. Depending on what type of player you are, choosing the right school could massively improve your draft stock. Here is a breakdown of what each school offers.
- LSU Tigers: Tops in exposure but mid-tier skill development. One of three schools to offer a Gold Package. Perk is focused on power-hitting.
- Tennessee Volunteers: Tops in exposure and near the top of skill development. Perk is focused on contact.
- Cal State Fullerton: High exposure and one of the best in skill development. Perk is focused on contact.
- Texas Longhorns: Tops in exposure but mid-tier in skill development. One of three schools to offer a Gold Package. Perk is focused on defense.
- South Carolina Gamecocks: High in both exposure and skill development. Perk is focused on contact.
- TCU Horned Frogs: Mid-tier exposure but tops in skill development. Perk is focused on power-hitting.
- Vanderbilt Commodores: High exposure but mid-tier development. One of three schools to offer a Gold Package. Perk is focused on contact.
- UCLA Bruins: Mid-tier exposure and high-skill development. Perk is focused on speed.
In a vacuum, there are college baseball programs in MLB The Show 25 that seem way better than others. However, it all depends on what type of player you are building. Similar to choosing a college in real life, players have to choose the school that is right for them.
Final Thoughts
Could we see more college baseball programs in future years? It remains to be seen. It would be awesome to give players more choices and increase the diversity of college programs. Regardless, the addition of the college teams in Road to the Show makes MLB The Show 25 the best in the series yet.
