NBA DFS Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Basketball Value Plays for February 21 (late slate)

Zach Thompson dives into Friday’s three-game late slate to find undervalued players to use in your DraftKings lineups.

In addition to the featured six-game slate this Friday, the NBA also brings us a nice three-game late slate on DraftKings. The three Western Conference matchups are the Thunder taking on the Jazz, the Timberwolves visiting the Rockets, and the Kings taking on the Warriors in Sacramento. From those three games, I’ve got three value picks for DraftKings contests, with one coming from each contest: Moses Moody from the Warriors, Aaron Wiggins from the Thunder and Terrence Shannon Jr. from the Wolves.

SG/SF Moses Moody, Golden State Warriors at Sacramento Kings, $4,300

Moody and the Warriors should bring good value in their matchup against the Kings, who have allowed the third-most points per game over the last 15 games. Moody has been in and out of the starting lineup, as coach Steve Kerr tries to find the right fit next to Jimmy Butler ($8,000) and Steph Curry ($9,000), but whether he’s in the starting five or off the bench, the 22-year-old has turned in solid numbers.

Dating back to before the Butler trade, Moody scored double-digit points in 13 of his last 15 games. Over that span, he averaged 12.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 22.6 fantasy points per game. He played at least 27 minutes and produced over 24 fantasy points in four of his last five games.

Especially if he gets another start, Moody is a great value at just over $4,000. He has been adding good defensive numbers to his three-point production and brings a high ceiling as the Warriors come out of the break with this game in Sacramento.

SF/PF Aaron Wiggins, Oklahoma City Thunder at Utah Jazz, $4,600

The Thunder rotate through their wing options and have continued to mix and match pieces next to their stars. Wiggins has been a strong contributor lately, though, and brings a very high ceiling in OKC’s second unit.

He has been in and out of the starting five over the last 14 games, averaging 25.9 minutes per game. He scored double-digit points in 11 of those contests, including each of his last eight games. At the start of that eight-game stretch, he showed off his high ceiling with a 41-point, 14-rebound double-double against the Kings that earned him 66.5 fantasy points.

While he’s usually not that involved in the offense, he has been getting enough work to be a great play under $5,000 and could help soak up some garbage time production if the Thunder pull away from the Jazz in Utah.

In two earlier matchups against Utah this season, Wiggins averaged 24.5 fantasy points in just 22.2 minutes.

SG/SF Terrence Shannon Jr., Minnesota Timberwolves at Houston Rockets, $3,500

The Timberwolves are the big unknown on the late slate. Anthony Edwards ($9,300; hip), Rudy Gobert ($6,600; back) and Mike Conley ($4,700; finger) are all questionable. Since Naz Reid ($7,400) is already filling in for Julius Randle (groin) and Donte DiVincenzo (toe) is also out, that means new contributors have had to step up off the bench.

Before the All-Star break, the Wolves gave Shannon more playing time, and the first-round pick out of Illinois stepped up with strong showings.

He played 20 minutes against the Bucks and had 11 points, six assists, five rebounds and 30.25 fantasy points last Wednesday. The following night, he helped the short-handed Wolves knock off the Thunder with 13 points and six rebounds for 22.0 fantasy points.

Shannon hadn’t played more than 10 minutes in any game this season before logging double-digit minutes in four straight before the break, finishing with those two successful games. If Minnesota gets Edwards, Conley and Gobert back, Shannon may not have much of a role, but he has proven that he can contribute great value from under $4,000 if work is lined up to come his way.
