The Arizona Republic: UCLA will advance in NCAA baseball tournament
Jeremy Cluff wrote: “This regional has plenty of intrigue, and we wouldn’t look past an Arizona State team that has nothing to lose after being one of the last four teams to make the tournament. Arizona State and UCLA interestingly split a pair of games at Jackie Robinson Stadium earlier in the season, and we could see them facing off in the regional championship. The Bruins, however, went 26-7 at home this season and are tough to beat at home. UCLA will advance to the Super Regionals.”
Action Network: Bet UCLA baseball to win Los Angeles Regional
Doug Ziefel writes: “At first glance, the Bruins appear to be an underrated host team. Their resume is rock-solid, with their only notable losses coming against Oregon. I have slight concerns about their starting pitching, though. They’re due for regression as a whole and will face some powerful lineups in UC Irvine and Arizona State. However, UCLA is no slouch at the dish itself. It averaged 7.9 runs per game and ranked 25th in wRC+.”
NCAA.com: UCLA picked to advance to Super Regionals
Michella Chester writes: “On the top right side of the bracket, I have the Longhorns making it out to face UCLA in the super regionals. If we get that, what a fun matchup with some star power.”
Rotowire: UC Irvine predicted to win Los Angeles Regional
John Venezia writes: “You can argue ASU has the most talent, but they are a flawed group that’s blown more leads than my Atlanta Falcons. The bullpen is often brutal, and the talented starters are inconsistent. While the offense rakes, they get streaky too often. Fresno State is very interesting at +1500 behind star player Murf Gray, so they’re live here. But ultimately, I don’t think they have the horses to win this region. This is definitely a place to take some value down the board with UCLA being one of the more vulnerable hosts in the opening weekend. The winner will have to go down to Austin if Texas wins.”
warrennolan.com: UCLA has highest win probability in Los Angeles Regional
The site gives the Bruins a 63% chance to win the regional, while the Anteaters have a 25.7% shot, according to its projections. The Sun Devils are at 10.9% and the Bulldogs are at 0.4%.
