
TROY, Al – Batavia native, Notre Dame alumni and Troy University outfielder Gavin Schrader was named Sun Belt Player of the Week for the fifth week of the regular season. He earned the honor after totaling four extra-base hits and five RBIs.
A junior for the Trojans, Schrader went 6-for-12 at the plate during Troy’s 2-1 series victory over Louisiana, posting a 1.821 OPS and recording two hits in each of the three contests. He made just his second start of the season on March 14 and hit a triple and followed with his first two home runs as a Trojan on in the final two games of the series. Troy is 18-6 this season and ranked No. 22 in the D1baseball.com rankings. Schrader was the third Trojan named Sun Belt Player of the Week in the season’s first five weeks.
