If ever there was an opportune time for Vandy to win a rivalry series, it is right now. The ‘Dores dropped their last two series but could get right against a slumping Tennessee squad. If they take at least two on the road, they will bolster their top-five RPI and stay on the right side of the projected top-eight seed cut line.
(9) Tennessee, Wake Forest, East Tennessee State, Kent State
The 24-1 non-conference mark is doing a lot of heavy lifting for Tennessee at the moment, but that is against the worst out-of-conference strength of schedule in the SEC. The Vols have to break out of their funk soon if they are to ensure the road to Omaha runs through Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Three consecutive series losses is an eyesore on the résumé.
