A college baseball bonanza is upon us, as the 2025 NCAA baseball tournament will begin with regionals this weekend.
The annual event, which features a 64-team field, will officially start on Friday, May 30. It’s the first official benchmark on the way to the 77th iteration of the storied College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
For regionals, the teams are divided into 16 groups of four, with the top 16 teams designated as regional hosts. Only one team advances from each regional into the super regionals next weekend, with play following a double-elimination format.
The SEC boasts eight of the top 16 teams, including No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Arkansas and No. 4 Auburn. An SEC team has won the College World Series in each of the last five tournaments, with five different programs winning the title.
