5 men’s NCAA baseball tournament players to watch
The Mongomery Advertiser’s Adam Cole and The Tennesseean’s Aria Gerson break down the top players to watch in the men’s NCAA baseball tournament.
The road to Omaha, Nebraska and the 2025 College World Series is starting to get narrower, with several surprising teams having already exited.
A jam-packed June 1 slate saw each of the top two seeds in the NCAA tournament fall, with No. 1 Vanderbilt getting eliminated by Wright State and No. 2 Texas getting dropped a second-consecutive time by UTSA. While the Commodores and Longhorns saw their national championship dreams die, 10 others punched their tickets to the super regional round.
On June 2, 12 other teams will aim to do the same.
There will be six regional final games Monday, with the winner of each matchup earning a spot in the super regionals. Those games include No. 5 North Carolina and Oklahoma, No. 6 LSU and Little Rock, No. 8 Oregon State and former Pac-12 foe USC, No. 10 Ole Miss and Murray State, reigning NCAA champion No. 14 Tennessee and Wake Forest, and No. 16 Southern Miss and Miami.
Are more upsets in store in what has been an unpredictable NCAA tournament to this point, with five of the first 10 super regional entrants unranked?
