NCAA Division II Women’s College Basketball Rankings: Down Goes CSUDH

After nearly going undefeated the entire season and winning 27 straight games, Cal State-Dominguez Hills women’s basketball suffered its first loss on their home court against Chico State.

Grand Valley State women’s basketball has moved into the No. 2 spot after going back to winning ways, getting two home wins during the Lakers’ final four-game homestand to end the regular season.

Texas Woman’s has separated itself from other teams at the top. They are still No. 1 and own 12 out of the 15 first-place votes, compared to the seven from last week..

How Did The Toros Loss Affect Other Team’s Rankings

  • On the day Cal-State Dominguez Hills celebrated its seniors, they would lose the first game of the year now with only two games left.
  • Although the Toros didn’t drop far, only two spots, their loss would cause everything to fall into a domino effect for other teams.
  • Pittsburg State had a big test against Fort Hays State but lost by 16 points in a hostile environment and dropped from No. 5 to No. 14.
  • The teams behind Pittsburg State ended up catapulting above them in the rankings (Embry-Riddle, Texas Tyler, and Concordia-St. Paul).

No Team Drops Out Of The Top 25

  • Although it can be rare during a college basketball season, especially with the regular season nearing an end, to learn there are no teams to fall out of the rankings this week.
  • Even though some teams had disappointing losses that caused them to drop a certain number of spots, each team still stands.
  • A big reason no team fell out of the rankings is that multiple teams were tied for spots (Ashland and North Georgia tied for eight, Cal Poly-Pomona and Seton Hill tied for 18, and Montana State tied for 25 with Nova Southeastern).
