The biggest takeaway from last week’s Division III rankings was that two new teams, Wesleyan and Trine, were at the top.
The same can be said based on the results from this previous week, but only one team has dropped out of the top two after gaining the spot last week.
Wesleyan passed its first season test as the best team after a close three-point win over then-no. 9 Tufts, followed by a 20-point win over Conn. College.
Trine, however, did not pass its test even though it appeared they had the easier schedule of the two. They split the games at home, losing by four points to Calvin but rebounding over Adrian.
Multiple Teams Benefit From Other Top Teams Falling
- Big wins over Elmhurst and Carroll in overtime proved enough for the Titans to take over the No. 2 spot.
- Hampden-Sydney and UW-La Crosse were at the respective eight and ten positions last week, but in the week with the most changes, they are now at No. 5 and No. 6.
- Trine dropped five spots after the inexcusable loss to them 11-6, Calvin and Tufts’ rankings went down the most, going from No. 9 to No. 15, with two brutal losses over ranked opponents, the overtime game against No. 1 Wesleyan and the blowout loss to now No. 13 Trinity.
