After once again proving comically allergic to winning an ACC title, even when it’s practically gift-wrapped, NC State has lost any opportunity it might have had to host a regional in the NCAA tournament. Not the route I’d have gone with, personally.
The rough finish to the regular season and quick exit from the ACC tournament assured that the Wolfpack would be hitting the road next weekend, it’s just a matter of where. And that’ll depend on where State lands on the two-seed line.
Baseball America, which has been rather unimpressed by NC State all season, has the Pack going to No. 5 overall seed LSU. D1Baseball has a kinder projection, putting NC State in Myrtle Beach with No. 8 overall seed Coastal Carolina. ECU is also projected into that region, and wouldn’t that be spicy?
I’d take the Coastal draw, or really, any draw that’s not in the SEC. We’ll find out tomorrow at noon on ESPN2.
