Nebraska football top quarterback target to announce commitment next month

Class of 2027 Nebraska football quarterback target Trae Taylor announced that he would move up his commitment date to May 1. This was reported by Rivals.com’s Greg Smith on Monday.

According to the Rivals.com rankings, Taylor is the 11th overall player nationally and the top player in his class from the state of Illinois. Right now, the quarterback has a top-five of LSU, Notre Dame, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas A&M in addition to the Huskers.

He most recently visited Lincoln on March 27 and Auburn on April 5. The quarterback has previously spoken highly of Nebraska and has visited the campus three times over the last year. Taylor was originally expected to announce his commitment on June 6.

The accelerated timeline could be good news for the Huskers. At the very least, it will give them time to assess their quarterback board should Taylor commit elsewhere. It will be interesting to see how the Huskers’ quarterback recruiting board looks by this summer.
