New stars among NFL’s top merchandise movers carry Alabama football roots

Three new names on the NFL Player Association’s Top 50 Player Sales List belong to standouts from Alabama high schools and colleges.

Released on Wednesday, the NFLPA’s Top 50 Player Sales List ranks the league’s top retail performers based on sales of officially licensed player products from March 1, 2024, to Feb. 28, 2025.

The newcomers among the top movers of merchandise in the NFL were Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (Alabama) at No. 20, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (Pinson Valley, Auburn) at No. 21 and Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (Alabama) at No. 26.

The NFLPA list is the only verified ranking of all officially licensed NFL player products sold by more than 85 NFLPA licensees. Products range from jerseys, T-shirts, hoodies and socks to bobbleheads, figurines, wall decals and credit cards.

Five other players with Alabama football roots appear in this year’s top 50, with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (Alabama) at No. 3.

Last year, Hurts led the list. This year, the quarterback is behind teammate Saquon Barkley and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Barkley became the first running back since the Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott in 2017 to lead the sales list.

Also back on the list are:

  • Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (West Alabama) at No. 25.
  • Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (Philadelphia) at No. 29.
  • Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry (Alabama) at No. 30.
  • Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) at No. 38.
