The Cleveland Browns have been linked with Colorado star Travis Hunter for the past few weeks leading up to the 2025 NFL draft, but he has now given an ultimatum to any NFL team that drafts him.
With the draft just over a week away, Hunter went on with CBS Sports and gave a stunning statement: he would rather quit football altogether and never play again than be restricted to playing only one side of the football. Asked how he’d respond if an NFL team tried to restrict him to just one side of the ball, Hunter told CBS Sports:
“It’s never playing football again…Because I’ve been doing it my whole life, and I love being on the football field. I feel like I could dominate on each side of the ball, so I really enjoy doing it.”
This is no big deal for the Browns, though. They love to stockpile cornerbacks, and Hunter is a great one. They also need some firepower in the wide receiver room that is relatively barren outside of Jerry Jeudy and flashes from Cedric Tillman.
The Browns have already stated they view Hunter as a wide receiver first. This makes sense. It’s easier to get the ball into the hands of a lethal playmaker with Hunter if you can design for that to happen. However, do not think for a second that the Browns will not throw him on the field in obvious passing situations
Every down? Unlikely. However, Hunter will routinely see the field defensively.
