Tyler Conklin has left the New York Jets as a free agent.
And in the process, the Jets have essentially switched out tight ends.
Conklin has signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. His agent announced that on social media:
By switching out tight ends we mean Stone Smartt. The former Chargers tight end with potential signed a one-year deal this offseason with Gang Green, so Smartt and Conklin are taking each others spots.
Conklin, 29, spent the past three seasons in New York. During his time with the Jets, Conklin recorded 170 catches for 1,622 yards and seven touchdowns. Conklin had his least productive season as a playmaker in 2024 with 51 catches and 449 yards but he did have four touchdowns in 16 games. Conklin simply did not seem to get as many looks from quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2025 offseason.
