Ed Reed spent his NFL career terrorizing opposing offenses. Now, the Hall of Fame safety will be the one drawing up the schemes to embarrass opposing defenses.

Chamblee High School in Georgia announced Monday it hired Reed as its offensive coordinator:

Last year, Chamblee added another notable former Baltimore Raven to its staff when it hired retired running back Jamal Lewis as its director of college recruiting.

Reed’s son, Edward III, is a wide receiver and defensive back at Chamblee. He’ll be a senior in the 2025-26 school year.

This is the second stop in his coaching career. He was an assistant defensive backs coach for the Buffalo Bills in 2016. The Bills chose not to retain him after firing head coach Rex Ryan and hiring Sean McDermott.

Following the 2022 season, Reed was finalizing a deal to become Bethune-Cookman’s head coach before the school declined to ratify his contract.

In addition to coaching and playing, the 46-year-old has some administrative experience. In January 2020, he was named the chief of staff for the football program at Miami, his alma mater.

Reed played 12 years in the NFL and built a reputation as one of the league’s most disruptive defenders. His 64 interceptions are the seventh-most all time and he had seven pick-sixes. A nine-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro, he was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 2019.
