Even after signing with the Steelers, Aaron Rodgers remains a hot topic of debate — just ask NFL legends Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson and Shannon Sharpe.
On their Nightcap podcast, Johnson explained that Rodgers was a different kind of distraction than George Pickens entirely — arguing that the four-time MVP is on a ‘short leash’ in Pittsburgh:
“I think [Aaron Rodgers is] not going to cause any problems because his leash is short,” Johnson stated. “If you mess things up in Pittsburgh, where’s your next destination?”
Sharpe would hilariously add that going “home” would be Rodgers’ final stop after Pittsburgh — only for Ochocinco to use that observation as part of his main argument for the Steelers QB’s newfound good behavior:
“You don’t have the leverage you once had — where you were sought after, where you were one of the best in the league. You’re still living off that past resume.”
The Steelers are definitely guilty of living off their past accomplishments as well — an issue Pittsburgh is hoping to solve with Rodgers in 2025, or with their QB of the future potentially in the 2026 NFL Draft.
