Grey Zabel is the Seahawks’ highest-drafted interior O-lineman since Steve Hutchinson (17th in 2001). The Hall of Fame guard, who’s now in Seattle’s personnel department, played a key role in scouting Zabel. Now they have another connection: Zabel will wear Hutchinson’s number. He said the team’s equipment staff had the idea for him to take 76. He wanted to first get Hutchinson’s blessing. “He was all for it and super excited for it,” Zabel said. “No better number to wear in Seattle history.”
