The NFL is now through 11 weeks. There has been some shakeup as a few of the best teams in the league dropped their most recent matchups. This league is changing every week and it is hard to tell who is going to be among the final teams standing at the end.
There are great MVP races in addition to all of this, as well. Sometimes, with these high-end talents at quarterback, it could be the difference in playoff games. For now, it will have to stand as a tiebreaker when doing a power ranking.
This is not a list of the standings, this is a list of NFL teams ranked from 1-32, based on who is better at this moment in time. With a major shakeup at the top, this is our power ranking ahead of Week 12:
The Contenders
1. Detroit Lions (Last Week: 2)
2. Buffalo Bills (Last Week: 5)
3. Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week: 1)
4. Baltimore Ravens: (Last Week: 3)
5. Philadelphia Eagles (Last Week: 10)
6. Pittsburgh Steelers (Last Week: 8)
7. Houston Texans (Last Week: 4)
8. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 6)
9. Washington Commanders (Last Week: 9)
10. Los Angeles Chargers (Last Week: 18)
11. Green Bay Packers (Last Week: 11)
12. San Francisco 49ers (Last Week: 7)
The Kansas City Chiefs are number one no more. They have fallen all the way down to number three. They just lost their first game of the season and have won two straight Super Bowls but it hasn’t been pretty so far this year. The Buffalo Bills, their best opponent so far, was able to rid the NFL of its last undefeated team.
Buffalo jumps into second over Kansas City but it is the Detroit Lions who finally jump into that top spot. The Lions had a tough loss early in the season but they have pretty much pounded everyone since. Right now, they are the team to beat in the NFC.
This was a good weekend for football in the state of Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles each had another impressive win in Week 11. The Eagles beat the Commanders (a fellow top-10 team) and the Steelers beat the Ravens (another fellow top-10 team) which puts them both in the top six.
Every team in this tier is scary. That includes the San Francisco 49ers, who have struggled but are injured. Every team they play has to respect them until they are eliminated. Nobody would want to play them in the playoffs which is why they are still so high on the list. If they get a bit healthier, watch out.
Teams To Watch
13. Atlanta Falcons (Last Week: 12)
14. Denver Broncos (Last Week: 13)
15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Last Week: 14)
16. Indianapolis Colts (Last Week: 15)
17. Arizona Cardinals (Last Week: 16)
18. Los Angeles Rams (Last Week: 19)
19. Seattle Seahawks (Last Week: 20)
20. Cincinnati Bengals (Last Week: 17)
This tier has a whole lot of “mid”. Nobody here has done enough to grant themselves the rank of “contender” but they all have a big win somewhere this season. They also all believe they are a winning streak away from being right back in the thick of the playoff race.
Plenty To Prove
21. Chicago Bears (Last Week: 21)
22. New Orleans Saints (Last Week: 27)
23. Las Vegas Raiders (Last Week: 23)
24. Dallas Cowboys (Last Week: 22)
25. Cleveland Browns (Last Week: 24)
26. New York Giants (Last Week: 25)
27. Tennessee Titans (Last Week: 28)
28. Miami Dolphins (Last Week: 29)
29. New England Patriots (Last Week: 31)
30. New York Jets (Last Week: 26)
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (Last Week: 30)
32. Carolina Panthers (Last Week: 32)
There are teams we came into the year expecting to be in this tier like the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, and Las Vegas Raiders. There are also a few surprises like the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Jets. All of these teams have been bad enough to warrant the bottom tier.
Only a couple of the teams here believe that they have their quarterback of the future so that makes the 2025 NFL Draft even more intriguing. Who is going to be drafting in the top five and who will miss the playoffs but not have the best selection? None of these teams are going to the playoffs but they all have different reasons for playing out the season as best as they can.
