Week 8 brought us a lot of fun games and only a small handful had to contend with any weather issues. You’ll see a similar pattern this week; there are a lot of great weather games and only a few that will make you frustrated with nature. Unfortunately, those frustrating games are in spots where you won’t have a ton of flex options. Read below to find out how to best navigate the weather world this weekend!
Early Afternoon Games
Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills
LOW impact. It will be a mostly cloudy day in Buffalo, but there’s no chance of rain. Winds will be light and the temperature during game time will be in the high-50s. Start all your usual players.
Las Vegas Raiders @ Cincinnati Bengals
LOW impact. A beautiful day in southwest Ohio is shaping up for Sunday. Winds will be in the single digits, temps in the low-70s with sunny skies.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Cleveland Browns
LOW impact. Another game in Ohio, another game with no weather impacts. Temperatures will be in the 60s, with zero chance of rain, and winds in the mid-single digits.
New England Patriots @ Tennessee Titans
MEDIUM impact. Wind will be the biggest issue throughout the game, with sustained speeds in the low-teens and gusts into the lower-20s. Those speeds won’t cause huge impacts on the passing game, but if longer field goals are attempted, we will likely see the impacts.
Washington Commanders @ New York Giants
LOW impact. It’s another beautiful game slated for Sunday, with light winds, and temperatures in the low-60s. No issues, start all your usual players.
New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers
LOW impact. Expect mostly cloudy skies during the game, clearing out slightly after halftime. Winds will be light and temperatures will be comfortably in the upper-60s.
Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens
LOW impact. No impacts throughout the game. Light winds, temperatures in the low-60s, and mostly clear skies. Start ’em all!
Late Afternoon Games
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Philadelphia Eagles
LOW impact. Sunny skies, light winds, high temps in the low-60s. Great afternoon for football.
Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers
HIGH impact. Let me first say that I loathe the fact that weather will be playing a factor in this game. There’s a very high chance of rain throughout the game, sitting at 90% currently. Winds will have sustained speeds in the low-teens with gusts into the upper-20s. With this type of rain and wind situation, all elements of the game will be impacted. I don’t recommend benching any of your stud players, because the studs find a way. But if you have a similarly ranked WR, RB, or QB that you can flex to it would be worth it. Double-check before kickoff!
Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks
MEDIUM impact. This week in Seattle is shaping up to be close to last week as far as weather goes. The rain intensity will be slightly decreased and the winds will be lower. Hopefully, the slightly improved conditions will help Seattle this week because it sure didn’t help last week. Also, thanks to reader Mike for helping me with the retractable roof situation in Seattle (they don’t have one).
Monday Night Game
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Kansas City Chiefs
HIGH impact. So it’s looking like a little bit of a mess in Kansas City on Monday. There’s a 100% probability of rain along with a strong chance of thunderstorms. Winds will also be a factor, with sustained speeds in the mid-teens gusting up to the mid-20s. Based on how the NFL has handled other bad-weather games in prime time, I would not be surprised to see this game get a delayed start. However, if they don’t delay the game, there will be impacts on all phases of the game. If you want to play it safe, you could flex to an earlier game to avoid having to worry about the weather.
Weather is a dynamic thing and can change! Keep an eye on your local weather source leading up to kickoff to see if anything changes significantly. Good luck!
