Rivals will take center stage to open the 2025-26 NFL season.
The NFL announced its kickoff game exclusively on NBC’s “Today” on Monday, revealing that the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will host their NFC East rival, the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 4.
The game will air at 8 p.m. on NBC. The Cowboys have long been considered a favorite to appear in the game, with another NFC East team, the New York Giants, and NFC contender, the Detroit Lions, as the other popular choices.
The Eagles will host the game at Lincoln Financial Field. Philadelphia, which beat Kansas City in the Super Bowl in February, crushed Dallas twice last season.
Dallas went 7-10 last season. Coach Brian Schottenheimer will make his debut as Cowboys coach in the game after he previously served as the team’s offensive coordinator.
Select NFL games will be announced by the league’s broadcast partners throughout the week before the entire schedule is revealed on May 14.
