Goalies
Devon Levi, BUF vs. NYI (7% rostered)
Levi will get the start and it’s his first appearance in four games following a 3-1-0 run by Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. I like this matchup; the Isles can’t score while the Sabres have rediscovered their scoring touch, and the Sabres have only lost three times in their past 11 matchups. There’s certainly some risk since Levi hasn’t been particularly consistent, but given the way the two teams are trending, the edge has to go to the Sabres.
Elvis Merzlikins, CLB vs. WPG (10% rostered)
I would be shocked if the Jackets don’t start Merzlikins in this spot. He’s been excellent in his past two starts, stopping 57 of 58 shots (.983 SP) and for the first time all season the Jackets have managed to win consecutive games. This is a tough matchup and the Jets bounced back with a 6-2 win in Detroit on Wednesday after suffering their first defeat of the season on Monday.
You’re hoping Merzlikins stays hot and provides a lot of saves and a good save percentage as he aims for his fourth straight win on home ice. There’s certainly some upset potential here – the all-time series is 17-17-0 with the Jackets going 9-8-0 when they’re the home team – but the Jets are the league’s best team so far this season and outscored them 11-1 in their past two matchups.
Dan Vladar, CGY vs. NJ (7% rostered)
The Devils have won their past two games by a combined 12-2 score while the Flames have lost four in a row and scored just six goals. This means Vladar is unlikely to get good support and the Devils are likely still fresh after an easy win in Vancouver on Wednesday. Vladar’s play has dropped off recently and the Flames have allowed 80 shots in Vladar’s past two starts.
It’s advisable to stay away from this start unless you’re desperate for a streaming option.
