Nyziah Hunter finding his step this spring after gaining quick connection with Raiola

There’s no wedding planned, for the record.

But when that special day comes for Nyziah Hunter, the quarterback is on the invite list.

Even if it was all explained in jestful fashion, it’s quite a feat for a quarterback to be on the list before he’s even thrown the receiver a touchdown in a game.

“He’s a dawg. He’s that guy. On and off the field,” Hunter said. “I’ll invite him to my wedding. He’ll be the first dude I’ll invite to my wedding.”

He knows Raiola would show up. Maybe even show up to help move a sectional from the third floor? Ah, the real test.

But let the humorous wedding line feed into the wide receiver’s real take on the Husker quarterback so far. “I can trust him. He trusts me,” Hunter said. “He trusts everyone in the receiver room. He’s got a dawg mindset and he wants to win. That’s what I can define Dylan as.”

Husker fans know by now to take pleasant comments of the offseason only so far, but some spring chemistry is nice on the ears. So is hearing Hunter was making some plays this past week in spring camp.

Husker offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen said the transfer from Cal didn’t look great going through the Husker mat drills in his first months on campus. “But when the pads came on, ‘OK, yeah, that’s why we recruited him.”

No lie will be told from Hunter about those mat drills. They were crazy to him.
