Ohio college cancels all classes after shock death of football player

A private college in Ohio is in mourning after the school announced the death of a football player in the early morning hours on Saturday.

Wilmington College, a school with an enrollment of just over 1,000 students, revealed that sophomore student Tony Crane had tragically died over the weekend.

Crane was a member of the Delta Theta Sigma fraternity and was found dead outside the frat house just before 1:00am on Saturday with a fatal gunshot wound.

Wilmington Police recovered a firearm at the scene and an investigation is still ongoing.

The school cancelled all classes on Monday following the tragedy and released a statement announcing the news.

‘It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of one of our own, Tony Crane,’ read the statement from Sigrid Solomon, the college’s vice president for student affairs and the dean of students.

According to a bio on the athletic department’s website, Crane was a native of Fishers, Indiana.
