Ohio State Buckeyes, Navy football agree to future season-opener in Columbus

It may be 2025, but the 2029 college football season has already woken up. The schedules for headliner games are always churning and delivering fun, unique matchups. The latest matchup news to leak includes a fun matchup between a blue blood of the sport and one of America’s darlings, who fans love to tune into.

The new matchup sees the 2024-25 College Football Playoff national champion Ohio State Buckeyes open up the doors to Horseshoe to welcome in a service academy, the Navy Midshipmen, for a non-conference game on September 1, 2029, in their season-opener.

The matchup pits the Big Ten powerhouse against Navy, a team hailing from the American Athletic Conference, which has found its footing in one of the best Group of Five conferences in college football.

Navy and Ohio State have met six times before, with Ohio State owning an undefeated record. The last meeting occurred in 2014, which saw the Buckeyes win 34-17. Before that matchup, the Buckeyes barely outlasted the Midshipmen 31-27 in Columbus.
