Ohio State football coach Ryan Day wins FWAA award: Buckeye Breakfast

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s Ryan Day was named the Super 11 Coach of the Year on Tuesday, an annual honor awarded by the Football Writers Association of America.

The prize goes to a coach who provides “outstanding media accessibility to their program throughout the season and notably through consistent interview opportunities with the head coach, coordinators, assistant coaches and players.”

“All you have to do is watch the press conferences when it comes to Ryan Day,” FWAA President Bill Bender said in a news release. “He takes questions from all outlets on arguably the largest beat in college football – and they often stretch well past what would be an acceptable amount of time to get those questions in.”

In the 2024 season, Day led OSU to its ninth national title in program history.

While doing so, he held a pair of weekly press conferences and made various weekly coaches show appearances across radio and TV.

Day often made at least one coordinator available each week along with a selection of players, including quarterback Will Howard.
