Ohio State football opens as surprisingly large favorite vs. Oregon

Ohio StateOregon is going to be the premier game of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

The Ducks held the top spot in college football for the second half of the season and into the postseason. The Buckeyes were a top-three team in the country for the vast majority of the season.

That’s why Ohio State-Oregon is one of the tightest spreads in the quarterfinal round: less than a field goal is expected to separate the two teams.

At BetMGM, the spread is 2 1/2.

This game will be in California, which certainly should favor the Ducks who are in the same time zone and play in the Rose Bowl regularly.

Nonetheless, the Buckeyes are coming off a throttling of the Tennessee Volunteers, 42-17, in the first playoff game at Ohio Stadium in the history of the program.

Ohio State covered with ease in the first round. Will it do so again? After losing to Oregon by one point earlier this season, let’s hope so!
