What fans will see at the spring game
At the spring game Buckeyes say they will be displaying:
- Three scholarship quarterbacks, including third-year Lincoln Kienholz, second-year Julian Sayin and true freshman Tavien St. Clair
- Running backs such as second-year players James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon, and West Virginia transfer and rusher C.J. Donaldson, and an offensive line that features three returning starters and a pair of tackles: Ethan Onianwa and Phillip Daniels — who were starters last year for Rice University and the University of Minnesota, respectively.
- A defense under the direction of new coordinator Matt Patricia, a two-time Super Bowl winning coordinator for the New England Patriots.
- A total of 27 new scholarship players on the roster, including 21 true freshmen who have enrolled early and are taking part in spring drills.
What is the format for the spring game?
The Buckeyes will have game-style reps.
The annual intrasquad scrimmage begins with the first-team offense against the first-team defense, and the Buckeyes will be in “thud” instead of full contact. The pace allows defensive players to wrap up the ball carriers, but not bring them to the turf.
As the Buckeyes move further down the depth chart to rotate more inexperienced players, they will transition to live tackling, a format that mirrors the script from recent years.
Where can I park?
Most lots and garages on campus are free for the Ohio State spring game. All “Day of Game” spaces are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis on Saturdays.
Advanced pre-sale parking of the West Stadium Lot is available through Ticketmaster.com. All “Day of Game” lots and garages open at 7 a.m. each football Saturday.
