CBS News has reported that the National Champion Ohio State football team will be visiting the White House in April. There has been no confirmation from OSU representatives as of this moment. There was some speculation that the Buckeyes may decline an invitation from the President of the United States, but it appears the plan as of now is for the champs to head to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on April 14.
Ohio State of course was crowned champions in the first-ever 12-team playoff after surviving a gauntlet of what many believe is the greatest run in college football history. The Buckeyes had to take down No. 9 Tennessee, No. 1 Oregon, No. 5 Texas and would top it all off defeating No. 7 Notre Dame 34-23.
The President was unable to attend the championship game as it was played on Inauguration Day. Mr. Trump did have a prerecorded message addressing the nation, fans, and the two teams that played during halftime on ESPN. Now we’ll need to see if President Trump will serve McDonald’s and other fast food chains as he did during his first term when championship teams visited.
