Despite being 37 years old, Brad Marchand has been a pivotal part of the Panthers’ success and you don’t need to look any further than Game 5 for proof.
Off a faceoff in the first period, Marchand scampered after the puck, pushed aggressively down the center of ice and beat Calvin Pickard top shelf with a pristine shot that quieted the fans in Rogers Place. Then in the third period, he maneuvered his way to the front of the net before beating Pickard again for another stellar goal.
It is worth noting that among active players, Marchand has the fourth-most points during potential series-clinching games, totaling 25 points in 37 games. His company? Sidney Crosby (29 points in 39 games), Evgeni Malkin (26 points in 38 games) and Patrick Kane (29 points in 23 games).
