Oregon State At The Amegy Bank College Baseball Series: What To Know

One of the top programs of the last 20 years, Oregon State boasts three College World Series championships and six trips to Omaha since 2005.

The Beavers head into the 2025 season with an unusual conference situation ahead of them. The dissolution of the Pac-12 Conference leaves only Oregon State and Washington State in the league, so the Beavers will take on a slate featuring a variety of high-profile non-conference opponents.

Oregon State also replaces the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 MLB draft, Travis Bazanna. However, there’s no shortage of talent in Corvallis. Oregon State features one of the most promising rosters in college baseball in 2025. The Beavers’ pursuit of a fourth national championship includes a trip to Globe Life Field for the third weekend of the 2025 College Baseball Showdown, where OSU will take on high-quality competition from the Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC.

Oregon State College Baseball Series Schedule

  • vs. Auburn – Saturday, March 1 at 3 p.m. ET
  • vs. Ohio State – Sunday, March 2 at 4 p.m. ET

Oregon State Baseball Names to Know

Aiva Arquette

Helping Oregon State weather the departure of the MLB draft’s No. 1 overall pick, the Beavers added another All-American and pro prospect in Washington transfer Aiva Arquette. Arquette enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign with the Huskies, hitting .325 in 209 at-bats with 12 home runs. He posted a .959 OPS  to punctuate his star turn.

Drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 18th round of the 2022 first-year draft, Arquette heads into 2025 as one of the fastest-rising prospects of the current college class.

Dallas Macias

Outfielder Dallas Macias was among the most well-rounded offensive players in the Pac-12 last season. He hit .315 in 213 at-bats and homered eight times en route to driving in 41 runs — both second among returning Beavers.

Macias also stole nine bases, most among Oregon State’s returners, making him as much of a threat on the paths as at the plate.

Eric Segura

One of Oregon State’s three primary starters in 2024, Eric Segura is the staff’s most proven arm coming into 2025. He worked 69 1/3 innings over 15 starts, striking out 72 while limiting opposing batters to a .242 average.

Segura pitched with savvy belying his first-year status last season. With another step in his second year as one of Oregon State’s top starters, Segura could emerge as one of the best right-handers in college baseball.

Easton Talt

Easton Talt came to Oregon State ranked No. 15 among all prospects in Arizona in the 2022 high-school graduating class. His first two seasons as a Beaver saw Talt with limited contributions, but he showed plenty of promise when given opportunities.

In 2024, Talt hit .318 in 44 at-bats, driving in eight and homering once. Playing for the Bend Elks of the West Coast League during the summer, Talt demonstrated remarkable plate discipline with his 40 walks drawn. He parlayed an on-base percentage of almost .500 into 24 stolen bases.

Gavin Turley

Ready to fill the massive void that Travis Bazzana’s exit for Major League Baseball leaves is Gavin Turley. Turley’s among the top hitters returning to college baseball, coming off a 2024 in which he belted 19 home runs, doubled 13 times, and drove in 74 runs.

Turley came to Oregon State ranked among the top 200 prospects in his class, and has only improved his standing since. BaseballAmerica tabs the power-hitter as high as a top 40 MLB prospect in 2025.

Oregon State College Baseball Series Opponents

Auburn

An intriguing dark-horse title contender in the deep Southeastern Conference, Auburn features a quality mix of veteran returners and potential breakout transfer playmakers.

The College Baseball Showdown provides a prime stage for the Tigers to break out on the national stage, making their matchup with Oregon State on March 1 the on-paper main event of Week 3 at Globe Life Field.

Baylor

There may not be a team picked to finish near the bottom of its conference built to defy expectations quite as much as Baylor. The Bears feature a variety of returners who have shown glimpses of star potential, including preseason All-Big 12 selection Wesley Jordan, the standout of a promising outfield.

Ohio State

Arlington provides an early-season look at what to expect from Ohio State in its first season under coach Justin Haire. Haire had an impressive tenure at Campbell, leading the Camels to the NCAA Tournament five times from 2018 through 2023.

He now looks to guide the Buckeyes to their first NCAA Tournament since 2019.
