Oregon State baseball vs. Louisville prediction for College World Series: Who wins?

OMAHA, Neb. — Once again, Oregon State finds itself in a win-or-go-home scenario.

After successfully navigating five elimination games in the span of 16 games, the No. 8 Beavers (48-15-1) will look to survive and advance on June 17 when they face off with Louisville (41-23) at the College World Series. 

First pitch is set for 11 a.m. PT and the game will air on ESPN. 

Coastal Carolina beat OSU, 6-2, on June 15 to push it into the CWS losers’ bracket. There, Mitch Canham’s squad will get a rematch with the Cardinals, who erupted for a late-game rally in an elimination win over Arizona. 

Thanks to Gavin Turley’s walk-off double, the Beavers beat Louisville, 4-3, in their June 13 tournament opener.

Oregon State baseball vs. Louisville in College World Series history

The Beavers and Cardinals have now met twice in the College World Series, marking of their all-time NCAA tournament matchups. The first meeting came at the 2013 College World Series, with Oregon State winning 11-4 in an elimination game. The second came June 13, with OSU getting a 4-3 victory in both teams’ CWS opener.

Oregon State baseball vs. Louisville prediction in College World Series

The Beavers have already seen Louisville’s best on the mound after facing ace right-hander Patrick Forbes in the CWS-opener. They managed to produce enough runs to win, despite a stellar showing from Forbes, and will be better-equipped to dig into the Cardinals’ bullpen early this time around. 

Although Oregon State has already used its top two starters, Dax Whitney and Ethan Kleinschmit, it has a former Friday night starter in Nelson Keljo available on full rest, as well as a few more of its top pitchers ready to go. 

Sending Louisville home won’t be any easy task. But the Beavers have enough quality pitching left to survive another meeting with Dan McDonnell’s squad.
