Mahomes’ Words of Wisdom
Mahomes’ support goes beyond words, the quarterback has contributed to the school’s athletics in various ways, including providing new uniforms for the baseball team.
But Mahomes isn’t just handing out gear.
He’s also passing down wisdom to the next generation of Texas Tech football players.
One standout Red Raider, running back Tahj Brooks, recently shared the valuable advice Mahomes gave him and his teammates as they prepared for the next level.
Brooks, who finished his college career as Texas Tech’s all-time leading rusher, spoke about Mahomes’ message during an appearance on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams.
“His message was really just honing in on the details within summer workouts,” Brooks said, per Chiefs Wire.
“If you’re in the building, stay in the building. When you’re outside the building, go have fun and take time away from football. But when you’re in the building, it’s straight work, trying to get better with your brothers.”
Brooks certainly took that mindset to heart. In his final college season, he rushed for 1,505 yards and 17 touchdowns, earning Second-Team All-Big 12 honors.
Now, he’s setting his sights on the NFL Draft, where he hopes to bring his work ethic and versatility to the next level.
The Texas Tech star recently showcased his abilities at the East-West Shrine Bowl, further solidifying his draft stock.
“I feel like I proved I’m an every-down back,”Brooks told The Draft Network.
“I can catch balls coming out of the backfield for whichever organization chooses to draft me. I also put my speed on display. I showed everyone that I’m very quick, quicker than people think I am.”
As Mahomes continues to lead the Chiefs into another offseason of roster adjustments, his impact on Texas Tech football remains undeniable.
With Brooks preparing for the biggest step of his career, the lessons from a proven champion like Mahomes could make all the difference in his transition to the NFL.
