Penn State legends land on 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot

A pair of Penn State greats are candidates for the College Football Hall of Fame.

Former Penn State running back Ki-Jana Carter and defensive end Courtney Brown are on the 2026 ballot for the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame.

The NFF revealed the 2026 ballot, which includes 79 players from the FBS, on Monday.

Carter was a first-team All-American and Heisman Trophy runner-up after leading the Big Ten in rushing (1,539 yards) and scoring (138 points) during Penn State’s undefeated 1994 season.

Carter was one of 10 FBS running backs on the ballot, which included Alabama’s Mark Ingram, Oregon’s Jonathan Stewart, Pitt’s Craig Heyward and Cal’s Marshawn Lynch.

Brown was a 1999 first-team All-American and ranks as Penn State’s all-time leader in tackles for loss (70) and sacks (33). He was the 1999 Big Ten defensive player of the year and a finalist for the 1999 Bednarik, Lombardi and Nagurski awards.

Brown is one of 10 FBS defensive linemen on the ballot, which included Pitt’s Aaron Donald, Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh, Texas’ Casey Hampton and Purdue’s Ryan Kerrigan.

Brown and Carter are hoping to join Penn State’s 21 players and five coaches in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Linebacker Paul Posluszny was the Nittany Lions’ most recent inductee in 2024.
