Toronto Blue Jays Are Looking For A “Strong Trade” As They Plan To Acquire Pete Alonso And Trade Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is one of the strongest players of the Toronto Blue Jays and the team is pretty well aware of it. According to The Atheltic, Blue Jays will not agree to a “weak trade”, according to The Athletic. It seems like the Toronto Blue Jays are trying to create a record and leave a mark since now, as per The Athletic, they are seeking a strong trade; something that will even leave Juan Soto’s trade with the New York Yankees behind.
Pete Alonso’s decision to become a free agent at the end of the 2024 MLB season did come as a shock for few since he debuted with the New York Mets and stayed with them for five long years.
The New York Mets had offered Pete a deal recently for the 2025 MLB season but according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman, Pete ultimately decided to reject a pretty expensive deal; the deal was ranging between $68 million to $70 million for a period of 3 years.

Mets think Pete Alonso is a goner as they begin Plan B

Jon Heyman of the New York Post criticised this decision of Pete’s and said, “I mean, the days when Prince Fielder got $214 million for nine years—those seem to be long gone. I guess we got a hint of that recently with more recent signings. The Hall of Fame-bound World Series hero Freddie Freeman only got a $162 million deal, a lot of it deferred, worth about $140-something million.”
His decision to reject his former team, the New York Mets comes in shortly after as per sportscaster Lee Hamilton revealed that Pete Alonso has also rejected the Los Angeles Angels after they offered $50 million for a two year deal; $25 million per season.
At the moment, neither of the teams nor Pete has spoken about these speculations. The 2025 MLB season just got a lot more interesting with the constant buzz around Pete’s decisions.
