Peter Schrager is leaving after nine years.
The football expert said goodbye to the NFL Network talk show on Monday, March 31.
“The rumors are true, today is my last day on Good Morning Football,” Schrager said at the beginning of the show. “I am with great feelings, we’re going to celebrate today. I love everyone on this show. It’s all good, but this will be the last episode I will be on this program.”
He continued, “With a heavy heart, I’m stepping away, but it’s also for good reasons and for a bright future. Hopefully we’ll all still be crossing paths and we can talk about ball elsewhere.”
Schrager was one of the OG hosts of the morning sports show when it premiered in 2016. His exit comes amid rumors that Schrager will next be seen on ESPN, and as the Disney-owned sports network is reportedly going to acquire NFL Network, potentially.

Kyle Brandt, who has hosted GMFB with Schrager since the show’s premiere, got emotional bidding farewell to his co-host.
“I’m a miserable bastard. I don’t like making friends,” he said. “At home, I have my wife and my kids. Around the town, I have a few friends. Around the country, I have my high school friends. When I come to work, I have Peter. And Peter, you said we were going to be best buds and we always have been. Thank you very much for eight and a half years for being my best bud.”
Schrager, who hosted GMFB from a studio in New York City, was also surprised with former co-hosts Nate Burleson and Jason McCourty to remember the good times.
Los Angeles Rams‘ Head Coach Sean McVay had some departing words for Schrager.
Melissa Etheridge, a close friend of Schrager and who sings the GMFB theme song, also bid farewell to the football analyst.
At the show’s end, Schrager looked back at his nine years on GMFB and thanked everyone involved with emotional words to his co-hosts Brandt and Jamie Erdahl, who got teary-eyed.
