Notre Dame football got some great news on Wednesday morning, as they found out that wide receivers coach Mike Brown won’t move to the NFL and will stay in South Bend.
Matt Freeman of Irish Sports Daily is reporting that the still current Notre Dame wide receivers coach had an offer from the Cleveland Browns to become its next TE coach, with “multiple other NFL teams” also expressing interest.
Brown quickly started his coaching career following a few years in the NFL, and has moved up the ranks over the last few years. He’s viewed as a rising star in the profession, so keeping him around the Notre Dame program should be viewed as a huge win for head coach Marcus Freeman.
He’s already had to replace multiple staff members that have left, and would have had another big hole if Brown decided to leave. There are still a few spots that are needed to be filled, like the GM role, but Freeman has found his new defensive coordinator in Chris Ash.
Brown’s return should be a big one, as the wide receivers group has plenty of talent led by Jaden Greathouse and Jordan Faison.
