Postseason college baseball roundup: Grand slam lifts Clemson to ACC final

Jacob Jarrell’s grand slam in the third inning gave Clemson the lead for good in its 9-4 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday that advanced the Tigers to the ACC baseball tournament’s championship game in Durham, North Carolina.

The No. 5 seed Tigers (44-15) will face No. 3 seed North Carolina at noon Sunday for the championship.

Collin Priest hit a solo homer and Andrew Ciufo added two doubles and two runs for Clemson.

North Carolina 7, Florida State 5: UNC scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat No. 2 seed FSU (38-14).

Kane Kepley, who stole three bases, hit a two-run single to break the tie. Luke Stevenson homered for the Tar Heels.

For FSU, Myles Bailey homered, walked twice and scored twice.

Sun Belt

Southern Miss 2, Troy 1: Two-time defending tournament champion Southern Miss advanced to the Sun Belt tournament championship game and extended its winning streak to 18 games. Joey Urban’s two-run single in the bottom of the first inning proved to be the difference.

Coastal Carolina 6, Marshall 1: Jacob Morrison pitched seven strong innings to improve to 11-0 and lead regular-season champion Coastal Carolina to the title game.

CAA

Northeastern 9, UNC Wilmington 6: Junior Harrison Feinberg homered twice and drove in six runs as top-seeded Northeastern battled past the No. 2 Seahawks to win the Coastal Athletic Association championship in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Feinberg’s heroics included a game-tying three-run double in the eighth. He was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

The Huskies (48-9), who extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 27 games and broke the CAA record for victories in a season, earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tourney. It was the second CAA title for Northeastern and first since 2021.

UNCW (34-24) reached the CAA championship game for the ninth time in the past 10 years.

UNC Wilmington 6, Charleston 5: Before losing to Northeastern, the Seahawks scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning on a groundout and a hit batter in an elimination game.
