The 2025 class was exclusive, representing the smallest Hall of Fame class since 2005.

Gates retired from the NFL in 2020 as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers after spending his entire 16-year career with the organization. He earned eight Pro Bowl nods and surpassed 800 receiving yards in seven different seasons.

His 955 receptions and 11,841 receiving yards are both the most in Chargers history. Gates also served as a red zone threat throughout his career, with his 116 touchdown catches representing the most by a tight end in NFL history.

Jared Allen was a consistent presence in opposing backfields when he was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings, making five Pro Bowl appearances. He reached double-digit sack totals in eight of his 12 years in the NFL, leading the league in sacks during the 2007 season as well as the 2011 season.

Allen’s 136 career sacks rank No. 12 on the all-time leaderboard. He also racked up 171 tackles for loss, 58 passes defended and 32 forced fumbles.

As for Sharpe, the five-time Pro Bowl receiver made his presence felt throughout his seven-year tenure with the Green Bay Packers before his career was cut short due to a neck injury. He finished with 595 catches for 8,134 yards and 65 touchdowns.

Sharpe also earned triple crown recognition by leading the NFL in catches (108), receiving yards (1,461), and receiving touchdowns (13) during the 1992 season.

His brother, Shannon, is already in the Hall as a member of the 2011 class. The Sharpe siblings are the first pair of brothers to be inducted into the Hall of Fame (h/t NFL.com’s Tony Holzman-Escareno).

Eric Allen was also awarded a spot in the Hall following his impressive career with the Philadelphia Eagles, Raiders and New Orleans Saints. Allen immediately established himself as a threat in Philadelphia’s secondary, earning Pro Bowl honors in six of his first eight years in the NFL.

His 54 career interceptions rank No. 12 since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, picking off at least five passes in six different seasons. Allen also returned eight of his interceptions for touchdowns.

The 2025 class will be officially inducted into the Hall during the summer.
