LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby has taken a new role with his alma mater.
Crosby will serve as an assistant general manager for the Eastern Michigan University football team, the school announced Monday. He’s the first active NFL player to take such a role in college football, according to Front Office Sports.
The four-time Pro Bowl defensive end will work with the Eagles to evaluate high school and transfer portal prospects and help manage the team’s Name, Image and Likeness (NIL)/revenue sharing budget.
He will also serve as a special assistant to the athletic director for fundraising, alumni relations and student-athlete support.

Crosby and his wife, Rachel, previously gave back to Eastern Michigan with a $1 million donation in 2023.
They’ve also launched a fundraising challenge called “Maxx Match,” in which Crosby will personally match donations to the football program up to $100,000.
“There is no place more important to my personal and athletic development than Eastern Michigan University,” Crosby said in a statement. “It truly is an honor for me to not only be named the Assistant GM of the EMU, but together with my wife Rachel, make another donation aimed at creating opportunities for other athletes to be impacted by the EMU program, community, students and alumni.”
General manager roles are becoming more prevalent across college football as schools oversee rosters amid NIL, transfer periods and now revenue sharing.
Eastern Michigan says that as a tribute to Crosby’s impact, the team’s top edge rusher will wear the jersey number 92. The weakside defensive end position will also be listed on the depth chart as “MAXX” instead of “LEO.”
