Randy Bolden hired as Copiah-Lincoln College basketball coach, replacing David Sanders

Copiah-Lincoln College did not have to search far for its next men’s basketball coach.

The school announced May 2 that former Mississippi College coach Randy Bolden was hired to lead the program. Bolden replaces David Sanders, who held the job for the past three seasons and finished 45-33. The colleges are approximately 53 miles apart.

“I am truly honored and humbled to be named the head men’s basketball coach at Copiah-Lincoln Community College,” Bolden said in a school news release. “This is a tremendous opportunity, and I’m incredibly excited to get started building on the rich tradition of Co-Lin basketball.”

Bolden spent the past four seasons at Mississippi College, going 43-69 and leading the Choctaws to the Gulf South Conference Tournament from 2022-24. The program had not appeared in the tournament since 1996.

“My vision for Co-Lin Basketball is simple: We will be a program built on hard work, discipline and a commitment to academic excellence,” Bolden said. “We will play an exciting brand of basketball focused on aggressive defense and an up-tempo offense. More importantly, we will strive to develop young men of character who will be successful both on and off the court.”

Bolden has been a head coach at Jones College and an assistant at Hinds College. His first championship came at Meridian High School, where he won the 2011 MHSAA Class 6A state title. Bolden was also the head coach at Pearl following his first stint as an assistant at Provine.

“We are excited to welcome Randy as our next men’s basketball coach,” Co-Lin athletic director Bryan Nobile said. “We are fortunate not only to hire someone with his experience in the MACCC, but he is well known in the high school ranks statewide. He brings the passion, drive and leadership to the program that we are looking for, and I look forward to Coach Bolden getting to Wesson and starting work.”
