The Yankees might have kept their season alive with a Game 4 win over the Dodgers in the World Series, but the reputation of New York’s fans took another hit after an ugly incident between a couple of spectators and Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts on Tuesday.

During the first inning of New York’s eventual 11-4 win over Los Angeles, Betts jumped up along the right-field wall in foul territory in an attempt to corral a popup from Yankees leadoff batter Gleyber Torres.

Even though Betts snagged the ball before it landed in the stands, he found himself tangled up with a pair of Yankees fans. As one fan held onto Betts’ wrist as he tried to remove himself from the fence, the other spectator pried open Betts’ glove to dislodge the ball in hopes of extending Torres’ at-bat.

It was an ill-advised move, considering that right field umpire Mark Carlson immediately signaled fan interference on the play — ruling Torres out as a result.

Both fans were removed by Yankee Stadium security immediately after their scuffle with Betts.

But after New York’s win, the two fans told ESPN’s Jesse Rogers that they were season-ticket holders at Yankee Stadium and were allowed back in for Wednesday’s Game 5 matchup in The Bronx.

That development drew the ire of Red Sox 2004 World Series champion Doug Mientkiewicz, who called out the Yankees on social media Wednesday morning.

“Heard that the Yankees are allowing these 2 idiots to attend game 5,” Mientkiewicz posted on X. “Awful look for you Yankees.  It’s about as bad as your baserunning and defense.  It’s that bad!!”

However, it doesn’t look like both fans are expected back at Yankee Stadium any time soon.

The Yankees announced in a statement on Wednesday that both fans will not be allowed to attend Game 5 as New York once again tries to stave off elimination in the Fall Classic.

“Last night, two fans were ejected from Yankee Stadium for egregious and unacceptable physical contact with Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts,” the team statement noted, adding: “The Yankees and Major League Baseball maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward the type of behavior displayed last night. These fans will be not be permitted to attend tonight’s game in any capacity.”

Betts opted to take the high road after Tuesday’s incident, instead focusing on what the Dodgers need to do to eliminate the Yankees in Game 5.

“When it comes to the person in play, it doesn’t matter,” Betts said. “We lost. It’s irrelevant. I’m fine. He’s fine. Everything’s cool. We lost the game and that’s what I’m kind of focused on. We got to turn the page and get ready for tomorrow.”
