The Boston Red Sox still need an impact right-handed bat this offseason after an improved effort for the starting rotation.
Nolan Arenado’s name continues to swirl in that category and dates back to the Winter Meetings. MassLive’s Chris Cotillo and Sean McAdam offered a notable update Sunday night on Arenado’s interest in a trade to the Red Sox.
All things considered, Arenado sounds interested if the teams strike a deal.
“Boston is a preferred destination — if not the preferred destination — for Arenado, a hot trade candidate who has a full no-trade clause, industry sources said Sunday,” Cotillo and McAdam wrote. “… If the Red Sox and Cardinals were to match up on value, there would be no hesitation on Arenado’s end to accept the deal.”
The Red Sox were one of six reported teams that Arenado would accept a trade to when reports initially surfaced during the Winter Meetings. Now, that interest got emphasized into 2025 as Boston continues its pursuit of another clear need for the roster.

Arenado may not be the All-Star that took over the game with the Colorado Rockies, but he can still significantly help defensively and balance a lineup as the Red Sox intend to end a playoff drought.
