The Enquirer’s Scott Springer and Shelby Dermer break down UC’s 68-65 win over Xavier in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout.
Cincinnati‘s biggest day of college basketball has a date for the 2025-26 season.
According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout will be played on Friday, Dec. 5, at Cintas Center between Cincinnati and Xavier.
This season brings the 93rd meeting between Xavier and UC. The Bearcats lead the all-time series, 52-40. Xavier had its five-game winning streak in the rivalry snapped last December after the Bearcats held on for a 68-65 win at Fifth Third Arena.
UC head coach Wes Miller is 1-3 all-time against the Musketeers. It will be the first Crosstown Shootout for new Xavier head coach Richard Pitino.
“As good as it gets,” Pitino said of the rivalry at his introductory press conference last month. “I understand the responsibility. I understand how important it is to fans. I will pour my heart and soul to win that game every year because I know Xavier fans, this community, the alumni, former players, coaches, how important it is to them.”
UC will look to break another losing streak in the rivalry having not won at Xavier since 2001.
