Report: Ohio State football to visit White House in April, meet with President Trump

Ohio State’s national championship football team will make an April 14 visit to the White House, where the Buckeyes are scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump, according to CBS News.

Ohio State defeated Notre Dame 34-23 in the College Football Playoff championship game Jan. 20 in Atlanta, completing a 14-2 season that included four wins in the expanded 12-team playoff.

The Buckeyes last visited the White House in April of 2015, meeting with President Barack Obama after winning the 2014 CFP championship.

It has been a tradition for championship sports teams to visit the White House. The NHL Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers visited in February and the NFL Super Bowl winner Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to visit April 28.

The White House visit comes at a time when Ohio State is one of more than 50 colleges under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for alleged racial discrimination. The Trump administration is challenging diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs it argues disadvantage white and Asian American students, according to The Associated Press.
