Royals Calling Up Top Prospect Jac Caglianone — College Baseball, MLB Draft, Prospects

As first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Royals are calling up first baseman/outfielder Jac Caglianone. Caglianone has sped through the minors, showing the same jaw-dropping power he demonstrated at Florida. The Royals’ 2024 first-rounder hit .322/.389/.593 this year between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. He has 15 home runs in just 50 games.

Caglianone’s power will be a big addition to what has been a very punchless Royals’ outfield. No Royals hitter has 10 home runs, and no Royals outfielder has more than Kyle Isbel’s three home runs. Caglianone has had two different weeks where he hit more than three home runs.

If there is any concern with Caglianone’s promotion, it will be his lack of experience in the outfield. The Royals have been working extensively with his defense, but he has just 14 games in the outfield as a pro.
